CENTD in School

CENTD in School

Presentation

CENTD in the school is an integrated program in the area of Diffusion and Education, whose central objective is to bring scientific research for students and professors of Full-time High School of public and private network through the conception of teaching-learning strategies that seek to discuss and develop scientific thinking.

This program also intends to develop tools for disseminating science teaching, based on school experience, and on the contents of CENTD research projects, thus strengthening collaboration between schools and research institutions.

A pilot project with E.E. Alberto Torres

In 2017 the project attended the Full-time High School State Alberto Torres. Its curricular matrix encompasses elective disciplines from diverse areas, among which we highlight the one in Scientific Initiation - IC, the target of this pilot, where a new program for the discipline was proposed and applied. The set of classes was structured in two pillars: provide students to develop their projects in groups and promote the discussion about which elements comprise a research project. Interdisciplinarity was also guaranteed through activities that covered the disciplines of the National Curricular Base, connecting them to elective disciplines.

First Benefits

Students have demonstrated a new understanding of science. Most of them have stated that doing research demands more planning and study than they imagined before taking the discipline and is a task that requires basic skills like writing, guided reading and discussions. This shows that the planning and execution of the course of Scientific Initiation proposed by CENTD in the school led to better use of the classes and contents.

At the end of 2017 the program, with less than one year of performance, received an Honorable Mention in the 1st Butantan Cultural Prize for its actions during the 1st semester of the same year. Reinforcing that the CENTD in school can be expanded to other schools successfully
