The Butantan Institute is the leading immunobiologicals producer in Brazil, responsible for a large percentage of the national production of hyperimmune sera and a large volume of the domestic production of vaccine antigens, which make up the vaccines used in the National Immunization Program (PNI) of the Ministry of Health. The activities of technological development in the production of health inputs are primarily associated with the production of vaccines, serums and biopharmaceuticals for human use. Its main institutional mission is, therefore, to meet the demands primarily focused on public health, contributing to the State in the continuous effort to provide the well being of the population.
