Instituto Butantan will promote in 2019, through the DDI (Diretoria de Inovação) and CENTD (Centre of Excellence in New Targets Discovery), the event “Coffee with Innovation” (Café com Inovação) which will be held every month from 9am to 12pm at the Centro de Difusão Científica (CDC), located at Avenida Vital Brasil 1500 - Butantã, São Paulo - SP. System Biology has been used to unravel the molecular mechanisms behind various diseases and vaccines. However, to dive into the sea of data generated by Systems Biology, researchers must use complex methods and analyzes that are barely accessible (or understandable) to non-bioinformatics. The keynote will show the efforts of the Computational Systems Biology Laboratory to develop user-friendly tools that allow anyone, especially non-bioinformatics, to navigate this sea of data and thus catch good ideas.
Speaker:
Helder Nakaya - Biologist from the University of São Paulo and PhD in Biochemistry from the Department of Biochemistry at IQ USP. The doctorate was directed to the area of Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics. From 2008 to 2011, as a postdoctoral at Emory University, Atlanta (USA) investigated the mechanism of vaccination in cells of the immune system using large-scale techniques. He became an assistant professor in the Department of Pathology at Emory University in 2011, where he uses systems biology to predict and understand the immune response to different vaccines. He is currently a lecturer at the Department of Clinical and Toxicological Analysis at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at USP and an associate professor at Emory University.
